Factory Warranty Issues

I recently learned (the hard way of coarse) that if you have someting repaired under the factory warranty it dose not carry the typical 12 month/12000 mile warranty. It expires when your factory warranty expires.

I had my heater core replaced back in Jan under the factory warranty. A few weeks ago it started leaking again.

As luck would have it, My factory warranty had expired in the mean time. But I assumed it would still be covered since it had only been 10 months since it was replaced the first time. Wrong!!

After some negoiations, We agreed to a 65/35 spilt. It cost me $470 for the repair. I'm sure glad I didn't have to pay the hole thing.

Really. I guess it depends on the dealership. If your having a continious problem with a particular part it should be covered under warranty? My 99 f150 kept dropping the same coil for some reason. The dealership replaced it 40,000km and 78,000km free of charge. My headgasket went at 76,000km and Ford covered it 100%.

You should've got the greater of the 2 different warranties on that heater core - in your case - it would've been the 1 year / 12,000 mile warranty on the part itself, not the bumper to bumper warranty. It's always whichever one is greater. It's still nice they helped you out with the repair but as long as you were within the 12/12 warranty period on the core, you shouldn't had to pay for anything. You can always call the owner relations phone number at 800-392-3673 to see what they say about it too. Good Luck!
