Adding Homlink to sunvisor
Adding Homlink to sunvisor
Anyone ever attempted to install the homlink transmitter into their sunvisor. I have the lighted ones and I can fell the area where they would put the transmitter. I would imagine the wiring is already there since they are lighted but I am weary about cutting that material.

I though about it but one of the options they installed at the factory was the reverse camera and that screen is in the rear view mirror.

All in all, it took me about two hours from start to finish.

The plastic on the console is way too thick to allow the outer home link button face to reach the clasps on the inner module. You'll need to take a dremel to shave some of the material off on the inner side of the console. Not hard, but a bit meticulous.

any homelink will work for your truck obviously
if you want to go the visor route, you can do it with some care
if you carefully pull the fabric away, a little bit at a time, you can remove it from the tucked edge. there are "sharks teeth" holding the fabric in
once the fabric is loose form the front of the visor, you can cut away the plastic. you will see reliefs to cut away. teh homelink is loaded from teh back side during production, so you can possibly fish in one end and use a small screw or something to secure it
if you remove the vanity, popping it loose from the bottom with a small screw driver. you can get to the wires.
to retuck the fabric, use a pizza cutter or dull thin screw driver to tuck the fabric back in.
I know this because I designed homelink visors at the supplier who makes them . I lead product development in the overhead zone for them now.
good luck
we want to see a documetary on the project

I went looking on eBay for a auto-dimming mirror and the homelink...I struck out on homelink, but for about $30 I got me a nice auto-dimming and compass rear mirror.
now to just get it and install in the Mustang. thanks for the mod idea guys.
