Removing Dealer Emblems
Removing Dealer Emblems
When I bought my truck the dealer put its own emblem on the truck. I am just wondering how to take it off, from what it looks like they used some sort of double sided adhesive or tape. Any suggestions on how to get it off? Thanks
Either a heatgun and/or try some fishing line and "saw" it back and forth.
After, just clean up that area with some Bug & Tar remover, and then wax it. You'll be good to go.

But yeah, what he said works. WD40 works to soften the glue up on the emblems as well.
I always make it very clear that I will refuse delivery if there is a dealer applied item on any painted surface before I sign anything. Then I write the same thing on the buyer's contract BEFORE I sign it. I have had a dealership start to give me grief about it but when I started walking out the door they changed their mind.
while a hairdrier/heat gun could be helpful often times is not needed...depending out the outside temp when you do this.
i've always used dental floss to get in/behind unwanted badges, emblems, etc. the floss works great, used gently to prevent breakage, and does not harm the painted surface beneath.

[QUOTE=Quintin]I hate those freaking emblems. The bastards oughta feel lucky I bought the vehicle from them, I'll be damned if I'm gonna let them use it as a billboard.
You ain't lyin'. One good thing in CA ( So. Cal, anyway)is dealers never put that crap on there. I don't know why. Usually the license plate frame has the dealer name on it. I'd make them take it off while I'm doing the paperwork. My jet skiis came with sooooo many warning stickers all over them. Try to get one corner started with your fingernail if it's a decal. Then just pull slowly. The material is pretty stout so it should stay intact. After that, I use this stuff called Goof-off. It removes the remaining adhesive. You can get that at Home Depot or Lowes.

When I bought my truck from Carmax, there was a decal on the tailgate, a front license plate cover, a rear license plate cover, and a front paper plate all emblazoned with the Carmax logo. It took me about two weeks to get annoyed with being a rolling bill board for Carmax, and I unbolted and peeled the junk off.
The decal was pretty simple, I just waited for a hot day that I knew the adhesive would be soft and easy to peel, just grabbed a corner, and peeled...
