it should be wired to a remote turn on off your hu and shut off when the stereo is off....if it is and it wont shut off for some reason i would def unplug it

If you want to keep the amp, and it is wired correctly (Ie HU unit shut off), place a properly rated relay in line with the power and have the amp only have power in ACC and Run.

I used to have an amp in my '99 along with a JL 10w7, and I had the ACC wire along with an inline switch... just in case... I always turned it off after I turned off the truck for the day.

Never had a problem with a dead battery even before putting the switch in... but I just got antsy.

But not only that... but there were lots of times when I didn't want the sub kicking... but I wanted the radio on... just flipped the switch and the amp would turn off.
