Differnce in two 2004 F150 Build Dates?

I know when looking for parts for my 04 F150, I noticed that there are different part numbers referring to Before or After a build date of December 04Does anyone know what the differences are? I believe its more or less related to the front suspension. Thanks for the responses.

no its not cuz of the front suspension, its cuz there were 2 different models that came out that year, the old body style and the new body style. old body style being the heritage edition, and new body style being what u have.

Right. I know that there is a heritage edition, which is the left over models from '97-'04. But i thought that there was two build dates of the new body style in '04.

There were mid-year changes. I believe some were brake caliper and rotor changes. Not sure about the rest, but being 04 was the first year for the new model, you can expect changes along the way.

PS. Dec 04 would have been an 05 model.

Didn't they change the location or angle of the muffler?

No, they built NBS F150s in 2003. One change i can think of is for those months they built the F150 in 2003 they ran a MUTE wire from the radio to the reverse sensor module.

Brakes were changed 04-05 year from 51mm pistons to 53mm.

Also 04-05 year the leaf pack was changed from a 3+aux to 2+aux style.

the intermediate pipe on the muffler is longer on pre May 2004 models. If you get a new exhaust, they usually give you 2 intermediate pipes, 1 long, 1 short.
