I have towed stuff for years and 99.9999% of the trailers I have pulled have had a 2in ball...so I have never seen the need for one of those 3 balled hitches.

I thought this same way untill my father-in-law gave me an old pop-up camper. I think it was a 1 7/8" ball. But I have to agree with the fact that you will rarely pull anything other than a 2" ball. But what if you need a different size ball and you don't have it? PIA at that point.

I just pulled my dad's big-*** boat out of the water....needed a 2 5/16" ball. I think only the bigger stuff needs them though.

Just joking man!
I'm sure you are current on the acronyms but you'll generally see that as a JMHO, OMHO, IMHO configuration the heart of it is the last three letters meaning My Humble Opinion.
see post #7, then post #8

btw, no I am not current on the current acronyms...I prefer to type out the majority of what I have to say...thanks for reading the full post

jk, i have a good lock on it. Doubt anyone will get it off unless they have come prepared to take it.....and at that point...if they want it bad enough they will get it anyways.

And even though i park in a school lot...i never have a car within 5 to usually 10 spots of my truck. and i get out to my truck right after the bell before everyone else can.

My hitch cover looked like it had been hit by several people in parking lots, so I installed this.

Hopefully, if someone hits this one, it will damage their car. I am so sick of my truck getting hit by people in parking lots. I came out last week and the right rear corner of my bumper had been rubbed by someone. It took me 30 minutes with some polishing compound to remove the rub marks.

I wouldn't really be worried about someone taking it, more that some malicious SOB that bumped or tripped over it somehow or just didn't like how it looked decides that it doesn't need to be in your receiver anymore, and that it'd look better going through your back window.

Looks good, but I keep my receiver hitch under the back seat. I don't need the extra attention.

Well I used to keep my 2" ball under my back seat too since I had my A&M hitch cover on all the time. Well, now that I'm in North Texas with all these red raiders everywhere, they decided to mutilate my A&M hitch cover. How do I know this? Well for starters, tu fans usually have class where red raiders lack this trait. Plus the double T sticker left on my bumper gave it away as well. I'm not blaming all red raiders, but in the last few years I have run into many more idiot red raider fans than longhorn fans.
