2WD looking for economic posi

Hi guys. I have a 2WD (actually single wheel) that I'd like to try and get better winter traction with. M+S tires with a posi traction is what I'm thinking. What is out there to keep costs down to do this? Should I try to find a boneyard rearend and steal the pumpkin guts? Or is there another set up that can be installed? I thought I saw something in Summit Racing's catalog once for this, but it was pretty expensive. Thanks.

never really looked for one for my truck since it came with one but i know that mustang ones are expensive and they are for the 8.8 rear. I would just look for a used rear like you said, just try and find one that is in good condition because the ford ones do wear out.

This is something you dont want to cut corners on, do it the right way or it could cost you twice as much.

Detroit True Trac is really the way to go. God traction, good manners on the road. Not terribly expensive.

A Tru Trac isn't a locker either.

Add a couple hundred pounds of weight to the bed, will do a better job than a Ls will anyways. A locker of any sort would be dangerous for icy/wet conditions.

just get an electric locker, $500 for the 8.8, don't know if they built one for the 9.75 yet. ECTED by Auburn, do a search.

LS diffs don't work when you don't have traction. i know this sound weird but they are often misunderstood. they work great on pavement like when you're at the drag strip, but put them in the mud or snow, you will get one wheel spinning. plus most clutchpacks fail before the life of the vehicle.

For the 8.8 you can get the OX too. That setup is badass.

isn't the ox cable operated? there are alot of options for the 8.8 since it's the same as the mustang.

I just put a stock ford limited slip in my ranger that I picked up off ebay for 120. You can go that route or like everyone says True track, in my book that would be the only choice for my f1 if my stock LS ever lets me down. As for my ranger I added extra friction plates so it is basically a locker with just enough slip to not brake axles
