Digital gas guage problem

Hi all.. I own a 2004 F150..lately ive noticed my digital gas guage fluxuates alot while driving. Sometimes if i get gas it doesnt update the miles "till empty" at all, then it will for only few miles, then itll adjust itself fully. Then sometimes as i drive i watch the miles decline like 1 mile per gallon for about 10 gallons then stops all in a matter of a min or so..NOW today the manual gas guage showed almost 1/4 tank but the digital says 0 miles till empty. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix for it. It's really annoying and i never really know how much gas i have and how accurate the guage is. Any help is much appreciated. TY

Try some fuel system cleaner in the tank.

My truck did this to me once... hasn't happened yet though...

However, on my Escape, this was a regular issue... in fact I was driving on a long trip and after I filled the suv up, I cranked it over and it still showed empty after putting in $40 in gas in the tank. I had to drive it that was periodically scratching my head trying to figure out how far I should go before filling up again...

Drove me nuts.

Are you adding fuel with the key on or in the accessory position?
