How much to change to LSD?
How much to change to LSD?
I have 2004 screw Lariat 4X4 and it has the non-limited slip differential. I want to change it to a LSD rear end. What is involved in this? I don't want to have to swap out the whole rear axle assembly, can you just add/remove parts from the differential?
What could I expect to pay at a dealership to do the work, or a rear end/transimission shop? Factory or aftermarket LSD? I don't need real performance, just want the extra grip for wet or snow covered roads.

i have been looking into this myself. a good lsd like the detroit true track is around 500 bones, plus install. A local shop wanted 700 for the true track and 150 for the install, while 4 wheel parts wants 500 for the true track and 350 for the install. either way it was around 850 as the local shop wouldnt do the install without me buying the lsd from them.
This was for the 8.8" rear end. prices might be slightly different if you have a 5.4L and therefore a bigger rear end.

Yes you can put these parts into a non LSD... I am currently looking into the detroit true track also but yet to start pricing out cost and install in my area.
I am taking my truck in at some point to get a dent in my tailgate fixed at a friends body shop and he into hot rods and what not. Like any other body guy.. I am going to find out what he wants to do the install for me. Hope he will hook me up some what.
