AUX button help

Hello all, long time, no talk to....been busy as isht with work...Anyhoo, the black hs rubbed off my AUX button (because I constantly need to press it to activate PIE devices).

Is it possible to remove this without damging something? Does anyone know if it just "pops" onto something or if it is glued?

My next request is to seek ideas of how I can "fix" this. I have thought of the following but not too positive I will like the final product:

Black model paint or nailpolish
A sticker or vinyl of some type cut to the exact shape of the button
..or...
Pulling off the button and finding a new one at a junkyard or something...although I'm just afraid the same will happen...

If anyone has knowledge or ideas about how to repair, I would greatly appreciate it...

Thanks and hope you your F1fiddy's are well.

Here is a few pics:

Paint over the button with Aluma-Hyde II or any other black epoxy paint. Scratch out the "AUX" with a scribe. That's pretty much SOP for bezel repairs.

My sister's Focus has the same de-lamination problem on the radio. (don't remember which button). She has learned to live with it. As you have also for over two years. My guess is any factory replacement will do the same thing....

Thanks for your replies - I actually haven't learned to live with it. I noticed a couple small bubbles in it the other night, rubbed my nail against it and thats the outcome

Any other ideas or opinions, please keep em comin'!
