Transfer Case

so my truck has been in the shop for almost 3 weeks and no real answers... i was told $950 for an exchange transfer case through this guy who is fixing my truck... is that a good price??

is it worth it to get another oem t-case or should i go after market? how much does an after market one run $?

thanks

Stock t-case is fine for what it does.

BW 4406, look around for prices.

Sure if you want to spend the money and go custom, get an ATLAS.

But i will stick to the ESOF and the 4406.

happen a while ago, i was out at pismo beach, got stuck while in 2wd put it in 4wd to get out and it wouldnt go in so my freind was pulling me out and i left the switch on 4x4 (forgot to turn the switch back to 2h), so he nails it to pull me out and i gas it, when my motor was at about 4k rpm the truck decided to put it self in 4x4 "finally" and basically destroyed it self.... stripping a bunch of gears and basically putting a bomb in the T-case. fun stuff!! haha

Been through the same thing. I have my old tcase for sale however it needs a rebuild. It's not too difficult to swap, just heavy, I definitely didn't pay $900 for the unit.

i would be willing to spend about $1500... ill just have to wait longer to get 4.88's!!! i just want a reliable T-case, i dont want to go through this again... and the ford t-case is crap for doing any serious offroading.

There are all sorts of adapter plates for the Atlas tcase to mate with tranny's so I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to make it work, but you'll be running a twinstick thats going to be popping out of your floorboard. Hope you don't have a floor shifter.
