Anyone use Strobe Flashers?
Considering I use my truck for construction and plowing I am going to add headlight/tail light flashers soon as I can afford the LED setup I want. By law in Ohio when plowing you need some sort of strobe so I just added a mini Sho-Me LED bar to my roof for the time being. In Ohio, construction/plow trucks can have them if they are in a situation where they need the attention, like plowing a lot or blocking a lane of traffic as you work near the road.
this is the first time i've seen those "hide a led". they look ok but they appear that they are directional and need to point out. a strobe is 360 so no matter how it is mounted its visible and will light up the housing its in. i originally started with strobes in my tail lights for plowing and now have strobes in my corner markers and cargo lamps as well for my vol. fire dept. i have a whelen six outlet 90 watt power supply four clear strobes and two blue ones

I work in the fire sprinkler industry, and alot of times we are out in the road, or on the side of the road, connecting to mains in the street. Sure, alot of the time we have police pulling traffic detail for us, but occasionally we do not. It would be a great asset there. Also, I have noticed on more than a few trucks, especially F-450 and up flatbeds (think lumber companies, etc.) that I notice when they apply their brakes, the brakes are led's, and they flash twice and then come on solid. I think in most respects they are a huge saftey add on. Just don't be the jerk who likes to drive around with them for the hell of it, or the guy stuck in traffic who doesn't want to wait so he flips the switch and gets people to move out of the way !
Pretty much, they are legal, but if you are trying to get peope to move (rather than warning them of your presence as construction workers do), then a cop will pull you over for impersonation.
These are GREAT for really foggy days, heavy rains, etc. I use my lightbar for that sometimes, mostly because I have a gray truck, which blends in perfectly with fog/rain... Use common sense and you should be fine.
