Title is mine?

I think I remember someone on here recently that got the title to their truck in the mail even though they had not payed off the loan. Well now it happened to me. I re-financed my truck to get a better rate, and shorten the number of payments left. Well the bank sent me the title. Should I give the title back, or just keep it so I don't have to worry about the bank screwing it up?

Why do I have to send it anywhere? I have the title and I know I can keep track of it. I don't trust paper pushers with my personal things anymore than I have to.

It was me that had posted about receiving my title recently (about a month ago) although I hadn't paid off the truck yet. I actually gave the title back to the bank the next day after receiving the title. Guess what I received in the mail this week though? A letter from my bank stating that it had come to their attention that I wasn't listing them as the leinholder on my title any longer. The letter stated that if I had received my title inadvertently I should return it immediately.

I still have to call the bank and let them know that they have my title. This is the same bank that when we paid off a loan using my wife's car as collateral they said they never received her title originally. We went out and paid to have a duplicate title made so we could sell the car and also this week we received her car title from the bank. Idiots!!!!

If your re-financed loan was a personal loan then you keep the title.
If you re-financed with another auto loan then the truck is collateral.
With an auto loan, if you hold clear title, what prevents you from selling the truck to someone for $20,000, signing the title over and laughing as you walking away?
I would have to close my account at a bank that did business like that and you should too. I just don't like the insane handling my money.
