how much did u pay for gears?

ive been searching for a while now and im giong with 4.88 gears the only thing is i dont understand anything about them.. all i know is i had them on my mustang 2years ago and what a diffrence they made. how much did u pay for them both front and rear 4.56-4.88, and how much already installed. also where is the best place to buy them, my local shop that ive been going to over 6years told me that they had never done gears on a new body f150 and recomended me somewhere else, for them to say that gives me more reason to trust them. any ideas? any advice would be helpfull.

I went with 4.10 Motives from www.nationaldrivetrain.com. Paid only $268 for them.

I had them installed for $250.

I just bought my 4.56 Precision gears last week, paid $630 for both sets of gears, installation kits, and setup kits from Reider Racing. www.reiderracing.com The cheapest shop here in western PA that I could find wanted $1400 for the gear install (also Precision gears), and another shop I talked to wanted $1700 . That's why I installed the gears myself. I probably have about $750 total when everything was said and done including synthetic fluid and all new axle seals from Motorcraft.

Really?? Yukons arent listed in their catalog. They quoted me with Genuines. My buddy down the street had some of their 4.56's in his diesel on 42's and broke two sets.

I didnt have a problem with genuines before, but that kinda scares me. The gears are lifetime warrantied, but the labor isnt.

Did you have to ask for Yukons specifically?

Yukon 4.56 Gears - On 38's

Front Gears - $200
Master Install Kit (front) - $125
Rear Gears - $250
Master Install Kit (rear) - $200
Labor - $500

Total = $1,275

10.5 MPG - City
13-14 MPG - Highway

I chose 4.56's due to the amount of highway driving I do. And now that I've had em for about a week, I wouldn't change em at all, Restored all lost power, actually feels a little more responsive

Do you have the specs on for our trucks? What special tools do you have? How far off was the shimming? Does the ring gear require shims or is it a locking nut? I guess thats a front and back section for each of the questions.
I'm cheap and dont trust anyone, so considering to do this myself. I am tired of being scared of it.
