EBC rotors installed...... uh ohhh

I recently installed my ebc sport rotors and I am having an issue with them. I put new akebono pads on and torqued the wheeels correct and cleand the hub. When I step on the brake the truck shudders. I think this may be the slots and they need time to break in? Any other guys out there with these rotors have this issue during break in? I am trying to be easy on the rotors.
Thanks

I think you have to go from like 75 mph to a full blown stop to break the pads in... or to "seat" them...

Not sure if this means much, but it sort of has some relation to the main idea behind disc brake properties. However, I swapped out a set of pads and rotors on my road bike, and everytime I would brake I would get a really bad shudder/vibration. So I rode around, and I found a very long and steep hill, and I flew down, doing about 45 mph and I did the front brakes, then I did the rears. I let them cool. I then rode around some more, and no more wierd stuff.

It might also be called, "brazing" or "glazing" the brakes.

I have the EBC Sport rotors with the Greenstuff pads. When I changed mine out, there was no shuddering on brake. Maybe you got a bad rotor? Shuddering when you brake sounds like warped rotor.

Oh, with the Greenstuff pads, they have a built in "break in" coating on them, so no issues with breaking them in. Just had to do a few hard stops from varying speeds. Have had them on now for about 2500 miles and no problems. Stop awesome and zero brake dust.

Maybe with the akebono pads its different? Only have 160 miles on them and most of that was on the interstate and almost zero braking. I guess ill have to drive it a little more and see what happens.

Hmmm... never heard of that before... you should "bed" them.

After installing new pads make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 35 mph with moderate pressure. Make an additional two to three hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph. Do not allow the vehicle to come to a complete stop. When completed with this process, park the vehicle and allow the brakes to cool completely before driving on them again. Do not engage the parking brake until after this cooling process is compete.

Listen... the worst you will do is waste some gas and some of the brake pad material. It's worth a shot.

Although it probably won't make the shudder go away, it will eliminate one possible cause, so you've got nothing to loose. I'd be real tempted to check runout on those rotors with a dial indicator to see if that's the cause. It's pretty rare that new rotors - especially decent ones - come warped. Another thing you might want to check for is a locked up caliper. See if one side is hotter than the other - especially after only light braking.
