brakes and rotors

the new F-150 commercials showing the truck stop a C-123 mentions the "vented disc brakes, standard on all 4 wheels. vented so they stay cooler, preform better, and maximize stopping power". are these the same jokers i have on my (stock) 05?

i think i may have warped rotors due to the rough shaking i feel at sudden braking situations. this is different than the ABS shudder that i am aware of. the warped rotor sensation vibrates so bad, the windshield wipers flutter and will rattle change out of the in-dash tray/cup holder.

after reading some threads in the Brakes section, i think new non-OEM rotors are what i need to look for. any comments on what i should look into?

If you don't want OEM than get Powerslots, Brembo, or EBC.

I've got Powerslots and Hawks.

im pretty sure by "vented" they mean how they are hollow i guess is how to describe it, but that is nothing new almost all rotors are that way

^^^vented rotor

but as far as aftermarket look up www.rotorpros.com they can do stock, drilled, slotted, or both and powdercoating. i got drilled slotted and powdercoated for $250 for the front and $200 for the rear but would have been $400 for both if i had the money at the time and wasnt desparate for front rotors, and they work sooooo much better

Well if your rotors are warped you will feel the steering wheel vibration on most moderate to hard braking. Ford rotors warp pretty easy.

Warped rotors comes from driving a 5000-6000 pound truck as if it were a 2000-3000 pound car, overheating the disks, then stopping and clamping the pads to the rotors (stoplights) while the rest of the disk cools.

Actually the 2004s have a TSB out for easily warped rotors.

There are updated rotors as well as calipers for 2005+ models.

Yup.

the rotors on my 04 warped so badly during the 05 hunting season, i was scared to drive the truck it shook so hard while braking. i had them replaced with 06 rotors and they have been flawless since

they are a reputable company but you can get the same or better performance and cheaper elsewhere

rotors should be around $400 for drilled slotted and powdercoated from these guys
http://www.rotorpros.com/ford.htm

and then find some hawk pads here they are on summit for $70ish for a pair
