Did your leveling kit lower your tailgate?

All you guys that have the leveling kit, did it lower the edge of your tailgate when it is opened? If so how much? It seems that the rake on the stock 4wd makes the tailgate taller than most other trucks, but raising the front end should lower the tailgate right?

Yes, it does lower the edge of the tailgate, not very much though, maybe an inch max. The problem is that after you level the truck, you will see how much wheel gap it has and realize that the stock tires are pretty small, then you will go out and buy bigger tires, effectively raising the truck all around, then you end up at the same height that the tailgate started at... Curse that mod bug!!

Thanks for the input.

That leads to my next question. Anyone have pics of their 4wd with the leveling kit WITHOUT bigger tires? Everything i have searched comes up with bigger tires installed. I would like to see some with the stock 18" wheels and tires that my King Ranch came with. Its a slippery slope of continuing to add mods that I dont want to go down.

I've got the 2.5 AS leveling kit on it's way to me now. I decided to also get the 3" blocks for the back as well. I'll post pics with as much detail as I can when I do it all.

Id love to see pics of the 2.5" installed before you do the blocks in the back if possible. That is exactly the setup I am thinking about.

Here you go, nothing but 2.5" daystar, dual magnaflows and a line of fire!

Holy wheel gap!

Seriously though, if you want the tailgate lower without going to bigger tires, just take out the rear blocks, it will lower the tailgate 2+ inches and make the stock tires fit a lot better.

look in my gallery. I've got a few pics of the before and after with stock tires. There is a good 6" or so room that I plan to stuff with 35x12x18 Toyo M/T's when I get some extra $$$.

But you're right, the stock 18" rims look okay with the 2.5" spacer

oh yeah, it did lower my tailgate about 1.5" when I installed the spacer. I raised the front by ~3" (yeah, it said 2.5", but it was really almost 3"), so the difference was split out back.
