2" or 2.5" spacer kit
2" or 2.5" spacer kit
I'm looking for the opinion on the board, and it's pretty hard to find by seraching through the sea of information here. What does everyone seem to prefer the 2" or 2.5" spacer.
Also, why is the autospring kit so popular, vs. Skyjacker etc......?
I'm doing my break job tomorrow and then I'm ready to pull the trigger on some new tires and the spacer.
Thanks,
mikebaby

i have the 2"AS...i didn't get the 2.5 b/c it puts slightly more severe angles on the balljoints etc...you can't really even tell the diff when looking at the two so personally to be safe i got the 2". the AS is so popular b/c it mounts ontop of the strut and is steel as opposed to competitors where you have to disassemble the strut assembly to put the spacer between them. you can purchase the AS on ebay. which is where i got mine for like $90.
I personnally have the 2.5" AS spacer. It looks amazing and IMO, is the best spacer on the product.
Having said that, I'd get the 2" spacer. The truck sits dead level. Any weight in the bed makes it sag slightly in the rear. So the 1/2" will still give you a little rake and make the sag go away.
Besides, the AS spacer was $89 shipped and took 1 hour per side to install. Easy and fast, and make of steel.

I wanted the 2" but they ended up shipping me the 2.5". Which endedup being ok with me since I installed airbags in the rear so when I load up the truck she doesn't sag at all. Plus I was able to put some rake back into the truck with the bags.
So basically if you never haul anything or just don't mind the rear end sagging whe you do get the 2.5". If you want the truck to have alittle bit of rake left or plan on running a topper or haul stuff alot get the 2". Or maybe even the 1.5" if you haul more than 6-700 lbs all the time. Just my $0.02 worth.

It all depends on how you want your truck to sit and what year your truck is. I've installed a few sets of the Autosprings now and have netted different results. The following is for 4x4's.
On the 04 - 06's a 2.5" A.S. will set you dead level. That looks nice, but if you put anything in your box, your rear is now sagging. So the 2" might be what your looking for. Or if you are going for maximum lift for the cheapest route, go with the 2.5" and put a add-a-leaf in the back for about $130 which will raise the back about 2 inches.

For the 07's and maybe some 06's a 2" A.S. is dead level. I noticed my 07 has 1 less leaf in the back than my 05 did which would cause the difference. So I had the nose up problem a lot due to hauling things after installing my 2" A.S. I hate that look, so I installed a Skyjacker Add-a-leaf in the back yesterday. The ride did not stiffen, and I believe it actually made it smoother. I noticed that my 07 would squat in the rear when taking off from a stop. The AAL fixed that.
There are pics of both set ups in my gallery.

I did 2" AS and 1.5" AAL, still plenty of rake and for the number of times I haul stuff, wish I would have did the 2.5" AS. Even with the quad in the bed it still has good rake. The 06 and up now appear to have 1 less leaf in the pack then my 04 and 05 did so for me the AAL was a must..

I agree 100% with everything else.
