Edge Level 3?

Do you have to run premium gas in this level?

If I did not run premium will it still perform better than level 2?

I believe you are supposed to use 91 or better because the level 3 setting increases timing, so you'll want to use the higher octane fuel.

Your truck will want to knock because of the advanced timeing. so your knock sensor will then over ride the tuning and bring the timing back down reducing your power. Kinda counter productive

If I were you I wouldn't change it to lvl 3, I don't about on other peoples trucks, but on mine the torque converter goes crazy on the highway and city locking and unlocking, And plus I really don't see that much, if not any improvement over lvl 2 performance wise anyway. I'm actually considering getting my truck dyno tuned once my warranty goes out. Then I'll just use the Edge for the gauges. Just my .2

Level 3 for me had better top end, but level 2 has much better take off. I dont feel comfortable running my truck on level 3 all the time with 91-93 octane, i use level 2

I use level 2 with 93 octane but I bump up the timing to compensate, otherwise it's a waste of gas money.

I keep mine on level 3 with 93 octane. I like the shift pattern. especially the down shifting, better. Level 3 is better on the highway for passing, etc. Level 2 is better for towing and around town as you have more torque at lower speeds. I would not run level 3 without at least 91 octane as the manual prescribes.

Thanks guys...I shall stick with level 2. I just always get this thunk in my whole truck when I let off the gas at speed then accelerate back up. Anyone else have this? My truck also down and upshifts like crazy going up a california grade on the freeway without towing anything, its like it doesnt know what gear to be in. Its getting really annoying to the point of wanting a new truck with a bigger engine.

That's your torque convertor, locking and unlocking

So where is all the power these trucks are supposed to have? I have regeared, put intake and exhaust, edge....and it still sucks on grades. Whats the deal?

"~The Edge did it ~ !"

That, plus yer lift & wheels/tires.

Regearing may have put you back in the powerband somewhat, but the fact remains your running gear got heavier. Rotational inertia does not go away, nor does mass, nor does 'barn-door' aeros.

A custom tune will help some, set up for the highest octane you can run, but unless you make accommodations on the running gear, you will continue to suck wind. Deeper gears, perhaps? And, what intake/exhaust you runnin'?

Unless you want to go into the engine itself, A blower will indeed fix it. Or a 2010 with a Boss 6.2. Or an '08 PSD.

Oh - that knock? Driveline issue - tailshaft slip joint/universals, etc. Hopfully minor - but get it addressed asap.
