Pcv vavle question
Okay, been searching everywhere on forum about pcv valves and not finding much info! I have an '05 5.4l and ordered a pcv valve for the truck but when it came I realized it was the wrong part, or so I think. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on the engine. Is the valve supposed to have an eletrical connection on it? The part that was shipped doesn't have one and doesn't look anything like what is on the truck where the valve is supposed to be. Anyone have any answers?

Yes. The valve is heated and goes into the intake manifold on the driver's side of the engine. Follow the tube from the driver's side valve cover to the intake, and that's your PCV valve. Replace it every 100K miles or so.

I don't care if you believe me or not.
The service manual has been reprinted over and over again and hasn't been updated.
Do me a favor and pull the hose off the left valve cover, start the engine and see how much vacuum is at the hose.

As of a month ago the pcv valve was not available as an aftermarket piece. To get one from ford it will cost about $300 because it is only available with the valve cover as a complete assembly. Wheres the smily for wtf ford?

The only service the PCV will need is cleaning (because it's a restrictor and has no moving parts), but to do that you would have to pull the valve cover off.
By the way I use to do work for the engineers that did fleet durability testing on modular engines at Ford
