Brake Pads

Before the flaming starts, I did do a search for this information in this area as well as the brakes area.

I'm down to about 3mm on my pads and need to change them ASAP. What pads are generally considered the best ones by this forum. I'd like something that isn't as dirty as the OEM ones.

Thanks in advance,
mikebaby

several of us have the Porterfield Carbon Kevlar pads. A little expensive but work really well and mine don't produce any dust at all. I got 3 years, 27k miles on them and still have half the pad the left. The crappy OEM rear pads only lasted 16k miles and I switched them to Porterfield too. Here's the link to the guy I bought them from:

I am in the same boat as you and searching for new pads. From the research I have done the wagner thermo quiets are nice and at a good price.

Hawk, hands down. Just follow the proper break in procedure and they'll work to all of your expectations.

Another vote for the ThermoQuiets. Almost 3k on 'em, and it's like day 1. And the reduced dust is quite nice!

Carquest "blue" semi-metallic or Wagner Thermo-quiet, whatever you can get in a good name, hell even Bendix semi-metallics would be good I'd think. Get something with a warranty because if it's guaranteed against squeeling or other noises and excessive dust etc, you're all set. I've heard bad of Porterfield's and stay away from cross drilled rotors, slotted are ok from what I've heard.

LOL. . Powerslots are okay than? It's kind of hard to say than when a F250 equipped with 38s and Powerslots/Hawk pads can stop better than a F250 with stock tires and stock brakes.
