OEM 20s = steering vibration

I bought a 07 FX2 with OEM 20s a few weeks ago and its been in the service department twice to have the tires balanced and rotated. Both times it didn't fix the vibe in my steering wheel...still shimmys between 60-70mph. They tell me that the tire has flat spots in it and I need to put more miles on it and that should fix it. Has anyone else had this problem??

Search for more.

If the vibes don't go away in a few warmup miles, it's time to find another dealer ...

Good luck.

I have had the same problem since I got my truck. I have a Champion Edition which has 20" Roush chrome wheels from the dealer. I have balanced my tires and can't seem to lose that vib in the wheel at 65-70... I just drive at 75 now instead cause it makes my hand fall asleep.

I'm hearing it's the tires, not the wheels. Next time around I'm not getting the Pirelli's. Mine shakes too at certain speeds. After enough high way cruising it balances out usually.

It happens with mine as well. Usually goes away after a few highway miles. When the truck sat for over a week while on vacation, the shake lasted for a few days. These Pirelli's would be great tires if it where not for this.

I have had my Pirellies road force balanced and regular spin balanced. I still get the damn vibe at 70 mph. Can't wait untill these things wear out! However some times the vibe does go away after about 3 to 4 miles of driving.

The OEM 20" tires (Pirelli) have a nasty tendency to flat spot overnight. Some mornings are worse than others but it quickly reverts back to round.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones without the vibe at 70 mph. My truck runs so smooth between 65-75 mph.

Best of luck trying to cure the vibe.

Thats usual. But when I drop down to 50 or 40 then come back up to 70(say due to traffic) It comes right back
