Just get one of the small hotel style safes off ebay for about a 10th of that and bolt it under the back seat. My uncle did that and it works perfect.

What do you plan on putting in there. That will justify if it is a good idea or not.

JBMX928,
I bought the Console Vault about two weeks ago from www.f150store.com for the best price I could find anywhere on the net. $256.00 + shipping. I've dealt with Moss Motors many times, and they provide excellent service. I hope to have my Console Vault installed in the coming weeks.

Ive been thinking about one of these for a while. Ebay had a smaller one for about $30 and fit a handgun nicely.

I've been mulling this over from the day I bought my truck. I'm just wondering if it's worth it as I don't know what I'd put in there that requires a vault? To bad I can remove my Alpine W205 and put it in there when I'm not driving it.

My friends dad has one in his F250. He is a contractor or something like that and keeps very confidential paperwork in his truck and his small handgun. He's never in his office so i can see why he needs one just incase someon breaks into his truck they wont tak any important paperwork that cant be replaced.

You could always buy a safe and bolt/weld it to your bed. They would have fun trying to take that off... let alone getting into it.

easy if you look at the locking feature its just a cheap little piece of metal that rotates over. stick a sawzal between the lid and the vault and cut that tab that rotates now if the lid had a lip that covered the gap betweeen the lid and vault that would be a different story or if they used like a dead bolt type of lock

I've had one for about a year and a half now and like it a lot. I keep a gun in the truck so I mainly got the vault to keep my little girl from ever getting to it...never really thought about it as an actual "vault". What azmidget said got me thinking... I just went out and looked it over. There isn't room to get a sawzal blade in there unless you were to pound some wedges to try and open it up. Even then it wouldn't be easy. A business card won't fit into that slot and there really isn't any slop in the lid to pry it very much. The key is pretty cool looking as well. I think it may be an anti picking type lock or something because there aren't any ridges or groves like a normal key, just dimples of varying depths drilled into the sides of the key.

Not to hijack - but our airplane has the same system for it's doors/bagage compartment. Supposedly very expensive to replace/hard to pick.

I'd love to have one of these for my truck.

yeah that was kinda what i was thinking that for what they charge it wouldnt be easy but like you said put a wedge in there and you could probably do it

but dont get me wrong guys it sounds like a very nice "vault" and could be very useful but at the same time dont go hiding a million dollars in it cuz really nothing is 100% safe and something like that a crook could easly get into in a few minutes
