Question -Synthetic Transmission Fluid-

- Has anyone had their trans. flushed and replaced the fluid with Amsoil? If so how much did they charge you?

- Also if the trans. fluid is overfilled, is it true that it's as bad as not having enough oil?
Reason be I had my trans. replaced about a month ago, and came to find out the other day
that its WAY overfilled! Could this be that, by what my edge tells me, its heating up?

Talking

i would think that adding to much tranny fluid would cause it to foam up some which would cause it to overheat. i have royal purple in mine. they charged 79.00 to flush it. i got the oil free.

I use Amsoil for my engine, but not for my transmission yet. I plan to make the switch when I reach 15K. As of right now I am leaning towards Mobil 1 because Mobil 1 is readily available - Amsoil is a bit expensive $9.05 /Quart Vs Mobil 1 $5.92 at walmart. A 15 quart flush will run you $135 just for the Amsoil ATF plus whatever they charge you for labor and a new Transmission filter. I am guessing you will be shelling out 220 dollars Max if you get you transmission flushed at the dealership.

Try finding a shop that uses BG products to flush the tranny. BG offers a synthetic fluid that is pretty dang good. I don't know the specific properties, but it works.
And yes an over full tranny can cause problems as well.
