im biased towards ford, love em, great to work on, reliable if taken care of... but i recognize the quality of tundras, titans and silverados... tundras and silverados of course come with the quality price tag also... but for the money, the laramie just dont cut it, very ugly interior, and its hemi is slower than the titan, tundra, and silverado... im just saying everyone that i know that has a chrysler, dodge, mitsubishi, or any "mopar" have a few but very important issues, like TRANSMISSION, cooling system, ac, steering, brakes.. i flat out wont help wrench on any chrysler vehicle that any of my freinds have... ive pulled up next to broken down eclipses and such.. and diagnosed their catastrophic overheatin/transmission and told them "good luck"

why is chrysler the only big three american maker, old school detroit.. to have been bought out by foreigners, and now mercedes dropped them stating "we dont need other companies to bring our brand name down, daimler benz is strong on its own"... and so now its "cerberus chrysler"... shame

you bought a beautiful truck, flashy, eyecatching, comfortable seats, big engine.. but your gonna miss the overall quality build and finish of your ford

The only good transmission that Dodge ever used in any of their trucks was a NV3500 5 speed manual transmission, built right in Syracuse, NY at New Venture Gear Co.

They only used it in the 4.7l v8 and 5.9l Cummins trucks. That would consist of:

Dodge Dakota V8 4.7l
Ram 1500 - 3500 V8 4.7l and 5.9l Diesel.

I think it's rated stock for 1000 hp at 1500 ft/lbs. All I know is that it's some crazy numbers. Having it mated to a Dakota is insane. Best part of which, is the fact that I have one.

The new Dodges are mated with a 6 speed Getrag... it is a POS from what I've heard and read.

I might be trading that Dakota in for a 5.9l Cummins 2500 or possibly go with a 7.3l PS F250... not sure though... I sooooo want a diesel.

Actually... I betcha I could shoehorn a 5.9l Cummins inplace of my 4.7l v8.... hmmmmmmm....

Dodge has had trans problems, but when I was a Dodge owners and hit the forums as I do here you dont hear of many trans issues. My friend has 60k on the clock with not a single trip back to the dealer. He actually owns 2 Dodges the other is a 2001 with 0 problems also.

Noooo... not yet though... one more night, and I'm drinkin' and postin'... ahh.. I can already taste that cold yummy beer... I gotta get to bed a little earlier than usual... and I can't be hung over for tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind having a Cummins in that Dak though... be an interesting mod to it...

I know you're trying not to let this turn into a Ford vs Dodge debate because it's pretty safe to say how it'll end up. So lets keep it civil guys, he's not saying the Dodge is better than his Ford.

The Ford doesn't count... because it can tow the hemi away.

The 5.7L Hemi is 5 years old....none of the other trucks you compare it to are that old. How about comparing it to what was available in 2003..it blew everything away. The step up in HP and performance it made led Ford and Chevy and others to build what they have today. Waite until the new Hemi comes out next year..if Ford comes out with a Boss or what ever it should be an iteresting year. Also it is confirmed you will be able to get a baby Cummins in the 1/2 ton Ram next year. All you "blue bloods" can say what you want but Dodge makes a damn good truck. I like my SD, I liked my F150 and liked both the Ram's I had...they all had their advantages and disadvantages but all where very good trucks.

Drink hell...smoking crack is more like it. Have you actually ever seen a Cummin's engine? It hardly fits into a Ram.

But the F150 totally out weighs the 1500. So with narrower tires and more weight... the F150 has the 1500 licked in a pulling situation for stock.
