Booder, i can turn your rotors for free, and will install your pads at the same time if you'd like. Just PM me or call me

Machined rotors will last at least another 30k. Expect them to last about as long as the stockers originally did (with your driving habits), unless you have some super aggressive brake pad on them.

No, they have to be turned by an on vehicle resurfacer...

I had a bearing making a racket, the dealer told me it was the right side. $450 for each side, to replace rotors, $900 for both. I though it was the left side but bought one and replace the right side. Still had the noise. So bought another one and replaced the left. Fixed. Total of about $300 and about an hour and a half. The big problem is finding a deep socket, I think its a 59 mm.

Patrick, can you turn the ones on the 04s and up? They have the bearing built into the rotor. When you buy a rotor, you are also buying a bearing.

You really don't need to turn rotors unless they are warped anyway, I just stuck pads on mine and called it a day when it started squeaking. 6 months later and all is still well, granted it isn't 04+ but still...

you can still have the surface glazed over (looks like a mirror almost) and yah warping or uneven wear are another common problem.

Ok. For a minute there you had me worried. I replaced front pads on my 05 4x4 because of brake dust and had the rotors turned by a auto machine shop. Didn't realize there was a difference between 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive rotors though.

Dude you will eat up your new pads with bad rotors.....anyways.

Problem solved I found a machine shop that will re-surface them for $15 a piece off of the truck. Anyone in the Dallas area here is the shop name:

Plano Auto Supply & Machine
932 14th Street
Plano,TX 75074

Not necessarily. If the rotor isn't heat checked or warped or anything like that, Ford says that you don't have to resurface them. Ideally, you want to minimize the need to resurface your rotors anyways...the more metal you take off them, the easier they are to warp later.

Thanks for the offer Pat......I'll check them out and see what's up. I changed the pads about 12k miles ago. I'm pretty hard on the brakes being I tow a trailer when I work and my boat when I play.

I'll give you a call when it's time.

Also the dealership lists the spindle nut at $28 a piece, this same auto supply store carries them for $18.
