Digital Information Center

The factory computer\Digital information Center is not accurate

Digital info center Had 37 miles remaining to E. I had 5.3 gals actually remaining at fillup. @ a hand calculated 11.92 mpg that would leave 63 miles remaining to E.
@ 12.8 mpg (computer calculated) that would leave 67.8 miles remaining to E.

Not 37. I guess I could look at it this way, It wont be as easy to run out.

Why is this thing even in there if it isnt accurate.

I do have an Edge and it wasn't accurate before either. I have the correct gears and correct tires size (used rotation and marks on driveway). MPH is accurate with GPS as well.

My Hand calculation for MPG was 11.92 and the computer had 12.8, it has been off between .07 and .09 for the last 5 fill ups.

Ford needs to come up with something better, it's a useless device.

That's fairly close, its a good tool to help indicate where the best mileage can be attained in respect to 'engine load/speed' ratios. I've noticed nothing is very accurate, even my Z1 GPS is not 100% in regards to location.

That's the idea. The fuel pump is cooled and lubricated by fuel. The factory designed a 3-5 gallon buffer between "Low Fuel" and empty so that there's less chance of you running out of fuel, potentially causing damage to the fuel pump.

It's not laboratory accurate, it doesn't need to be.
