I'm installing a Garmin c330, and not sure which wire to tap. Its the one that suctions to the window, and plugs into the lighter. i'm looking for like an accessory power switch, somthing that goes on with the truck, and off with the truck..
any ideas?.
Thanks guys~

I think I remember reading awhile back that it's bad to directly hard wire these things. I believe people put an extra cigerate adapter behind their dash and pluged it in there, or that they put a fuse on the unit.
BTW great unit you got there.

Thanks for the reply.. they have this unit on sale at cabelas for 249$... i had to grab one. so far, i really dig it.
i was searching to see if anyone had one , and how they mounted it. I'm thinking about putting it on the dash, on the left. Most people put their edge there. I was going to mount it there, and run the wires behind the dash, i guess for now i'll just keep it in the same lighter point untill i can figure it out. I was just wanting it to come on when i power on the truck and go off when i turn it off. I dont think i'll be taking it in and out of the truck, so this would be a permanent solution.
thanks again for your input!

I wired up a couple extra power adapters under the dash for my sirius reciever. You only need to do this if the unit uses less than the 12volts. Like the sat. using like 6v or something like that.
Might try plugging it in with the lighter and use a test light to find which one is hot before cutting it off. maybe strip the outer black off the wire to expose those inside to test. Just a thought.

cool, thanks man!.. i'm just gonna use the lighter plug until i can find a better option. on these units when powers cut from it, it will flash and say to stay on battery touch here, but if you don't touch it cuts the unit off. but if the powers always on, you have to hold the power button to kill it. Well i want to keep this in the truck indefinably so not having to cut it off every time would save me some time. .. ok. who's the first to call me a lazy A$$. hehe.. just trying to make things simple is all..
