"Built Ford Tough" Testing

The definition of 'Built Ford Tough' is rooted in a series of grueling tests designed to ensure quality, durability and dependability.

An interesting article of how Ford tests their vehicles, ranging from wear and tear to soda spillage on shifter consoles.

Funny, I spilled soda on my center console shifter, and now during cold days it won't fully engage properly to let the key unlock; leaving me spending 10 minutes every winter morning shifting it in and out of park until it engages. Dealer can't duplicate the problem either - I really need to get it in to them on a sub-zero day.

ya... but did you notice that in the Ford test they use DIET COLA...

"Ford has devised a test to ensure all of its shifters are able to survive a dousing from diet cola. "

diet cola does not have sugar and does not get as sticky as regular pop. Either the writer of the article made a mistake or Ford is being wimpy on that part of the testing

Here we go, Ford doesn't properly test their trucks because they don't have the guts to pour "regular" cola on the shifters.

Pretty neat article. I knew Ford did a variety of testing, as any car company must, but its cool to read about the specifics of the test

What, they only open the fuel door 3000 times? That doesn't seem like its going to be nearly enough.

Doing some rough math, gassing up once a week would require 57.7 years of ownership to get 3000 cycles.

I think Ford needs to use Bourbon in the cola they spill. Then it will pass the true test!
