Re-Gear info help...

I want to do 4:10 gears to replace my 3:55.I only have 33" tires and do a good bit of interstate time. What I need to know is where are most folks getting the parts for this install? What info as far as axles do I need to know/find out before I call and place an order.Any parts list available so I get all the parts I need?

Its an 07 4x4 by the way.

What is your top speed? On my 2004... I can't recall my old tire size, i think 30-31s. I had 4.56s and 3rd gear @ 5700 rpm was 110mph.

Man 117 on 37's would be interesting! But I have to admit I almost exceeded my tires speed rating the other day. Getting on the interstate and it was empty so I laid it down and when I looked the speedo was whizzing by 100 a lot faster than I would have expected. Guess the VMP tunes get addictive.

Bronkx1,
I think you just need to tell them the axle is a Ford 9.75 (if you have a 5.4) can't remember if the 4.6's run 8.8 or 9.75 out back and if you have limited slip. You could buy the gears offline doing a search (Precision gear is a good one) or find a trusted local shop and they will set you up. I think there are certain levels of install kits that are needed.

I'm not even sure of the speed rating. It was only at 117 for a second and than right back down to 75 mph. The speed ratings are on the safe side thats for sure. You can exceed them, I just wouldn't hold that speed for a while.

Edit: The more I think about it. I think it was 107 mph.

Randys ring and pinion is where I looked first. They dont ask about engines just year.It shows 9.75 as the rear and an 8.8 in front. They have 4.11 ring and pinion for $255 a set.
