Alarm Praise
Took a trip to into Gulfport earlier this evening to pick up a few computer items. My family and I were inside a Radio Shack when my truck 2 way alarm pager alerted me that my truck alarm had been triggered. I took a quick glance outside (my truck was parked less than 100 feet from the store door) then I proceeded outside. When I did I saw a guy walking away from my truck and he got into a car sitting 2 spaces down and across from my truck. First thing I noticed was 3 fresh scratches under my drivers side door handle.
A woman got out of the car the guy had just gotten into and I asked if she had seen anyone messing with my truck. She said that a shopping cart had rolled into my truck, I looked at her and said "sorry not buying that because I saw the guy in your car next to my truck and I have scratches that weren't previously there." I glanced over at the car, but wasn't 100% positive he had messed with it because there were also 2 little kids in the back seat of the car.
I gave him a glance that let him know I had a strong suspicion that he was the one messing with my truck, but he just sat there in the driver's seat. The woman then proceeded into a store and we got in my truck and left.
I attribute 2 things to this guy not being able to get into my truck. The first is the LT handles that were on my truck, they guy couldn't get the screwdriver under them and the second was the alarm, it did it's job. Lucky for me the scratches are very small and can easily be touched up. Pisses me off though that people don't give a crap about other people's property and the guy wouldn't step out of his car when I basically accussed him of trying to break into my truck.

I just didn't want to believe that a mother & father would be out casing the parking lots looking for vehicles to break into with their kids in tow. Of course some parents these days don't present very good role models for their children.
So your alarm didn't go off, it just silently alerted you? I sure hope if mine goes off I get the opportunity to catch the f'er. I still don't know what I'd do, but I carry a weapon just to keep my options open.
To make things interesting you could have chucked your wallet at him and began assaulting, don't forget to yell over and over "GIVE IT BACK" or "HEY THATS MY WALLET"
Food for thought next time you visit Gulfport.

I was actually in Millington, but did venture over to Memphis a few times while I was up there. Definitely not a place I would even think about moving my family to.

Food for thought next time you visit Gulfport. The more I think about it the more I wish I would have directly confronted him, but you never know with people nowadays, he may have been carrying a weapon.
I like your idea about throwing my wallet at him next time though.

Regardless, good thing your ride didn't get stolen.
Get his plate and call the cops. My first mod was a 2-way lcd auto start alarm because I know I was going to put in audio and video equipment. Im seriously thinking about this Jimmy Jammer and LT handle upgrade.
Don't put too much faith in your alarm, the only reason it did any good is because you have the pager. The fact that it alerted you is the ONLY reason why there wasn't more damage. The woman was more then likely his lookout and when she saw you coming she warned the guy and that's why he walked away. Nobody pays attention to car alarms, even thieves aren't concerned about them. The siren was sounding and he still kept working on the handle until you came around the corner.
