@ What Mileage should I do my first service
Fella's I'm wondering at what mileage should I perform my first service. I've two different things from two different dealers. I've heard 3500 and I've heard 4000. Who's telling the truth also can someone recommend a dealership here or around NYC to perform my first service. Let's say Queens, nassau county area or White Plains area. I'm looking for the best service department that I can find.
Ford says 5000 in the manual. If you run it hard or work it, you would want to do it earlier. I tried to have mine done at about 1600 when I was at the dealership for something else, and my dealer said I would be wasting my money and to wait until 3000. I did that and now change between 3500 and 4000, about every 2 months for me. I have 54,000 miles and it stays clean, no oil usage.

I would say before 1000 miles for some trucks. Some trucks have been sitting in the lot for over 6 months. If you go with the recommended 5000 / six months. your truck will not get an oil change for one year. Six months on the lot plus the six months you owned the truck.

I'm not sure about how long it sat on the lot but I just made it to the 4500 mark and I bought it at the beginning of this past June 07. I only get to drive it once a week and I'm not towing of hauling then.

I'm sorry fella's. I dont have 4500 miles I have 3500 miles. I will take it in this weekend if I can. The dealer that I bought it from told me to have it service at 3500 miles and that its supposed to be free, is this correct.

ok I'm getting confused. Should I wait until the dealers recommended 5000 miles (b/c I only drive once a week and I havent towed anything yet) or should I go in now b/c I have 3500 miles on it.
I don't like to go the full 5000 as I live in a dusty climate. I go 3500 to 4000. Just my preference and it seems to work well.

I recommend 3 months or 3k miles, whichever comes first. Mileage isn't the only thing you have to worry about. Like Ilovemyford said "your truck could sit for 6 months on the lot". It depends on your climate, here in the early spring we can have a 40 degree change over the course of the day. That can lead to moisture accumulation. And to take the truck sitting on the lot for 6 months one step farther, you truck could have sat at the assembly plant for a few months as well. I would ask for the production date. That is the most accurate way to tell how long your new truck has been sitting around.
