You didn't do it, so do what you need to get Ford to pay fr repairs. Also, since the dealer is not the best to deal with its best to let them find it. In any case CYA

If you look up where I took the pic there is no tiedown points any place near it.Its also tucked up in there in front of the front diff. That said I have no idea how it could get hit while on the truck.
When they put the truck on the transporter, the deckshave to line up. If one was left up or down all kinds of things get scraped and dinged. I checked cars in at the dealership I worked for. We always had to look under the vehicle. Had radiator damage, tie rod damage, etc. Just thought the color in your pictures matched the color of most transporters around here. THe rail yard here has a body shop just to repair the damage that occured during transport.
Well I guess any thing is poss.I guessed the green paint mark was just a mark like you see on most of the large parts like driveshaft and rear end from a count or some thing. What I do know is I did not break it nor did my local oil change shop.I guess it comes down to who did the PDI at the selling dealer and did he do a good job or just slap some stickers on it.

Probably why the dealer don't want to see him till next week.
My excuse is I'm on the east coast and stayed up to watch a west coast ballgame that went extra innings.
I shouldn't be posting in Forums OR driving an automobile, today.

Well Cynder took care of me.Brand new power steering rack is installed and the alignment was reset.Tracks good down the road no hiss or wander so far.Was given no guff about ford covering the cost of the rack.
Most people dont post how they solved the issue that caused them to post in the first place so I felt As a nod to Cynder I should post the end result.

Edit, problem solved. Glad to hear it turned out in your favor. Did it fix your wandering problem?

I think that Cynder is the reason that I was taken care of.I would like to think that any dealer would have the customers needs at heart but it did not seem that way.My problem was taken care of and my wander is gone so far.I think we all need to make friends with a tech at the local ford dealer it seems to help.I would never lean on Cynder to try and get things covered that were my fault but for the peice of mind to know the problem will be found and fixed I am thankful to be able to call him.If he had not helped me like he did I would have told the truth to the selling dealer.I would have told them about the first dealer locating the issue and sending me to them for the repair.I dont want to leave the truck with them just to get a call at 5pm telling me they see the rack is damaged and wont cover it.I would rather tell them upfront and see what they have to say so I can take the steps I need to to get them to fix it.
Cynder also said the rack had other small issues based on the original install at the factory.Did it have any thing to do with it?I have no idea Im just glad he helped me out and got me fixed up.
