I know they didn't say any thing about the drive train, but you mentioned the new shift ****, did you by chance see if it has 6 gears? Also, is the bed as deep as the current generation? Were they 4x4 models that you saw, did you notice any diff lock dials if so? Thanks a ton for sharing!!!

OMG!!! I knew there was something I wanted to look at and that is exactly what it was. I completely forgot and I couldn't remember what I'd kept telling myself to check for. Anyway...I'm sorry, man. I really didn't take a close enough look. All of the questions are great, however. I'll try and address them all. The wheels looked pretty good but in all fairness, nothing to write home about. The cab was definitely larger. I have a CC Titan so I'm very well aware of the difference in cab size between the Titan and the current F150 offering. When I sat in the back, the leg room was clearly more substantial than before. The odd thing was once I was certain the cab was larger, I did my best to recognize the change from a perspective outside of the cabin. I truly could not figure out where the additional length came from. Ford did a tremendous job of NOT making it look like a current crew cab with simply a longer, more obnoxious, rear door. This thing looks virtually identical (although I had to go from memory because the current crew wasn't sitting next to it) to the current one. That's the part that I really liked about it. The bed was identical in depth to the current offering, as was the length. Nothing new, there. The models that I looked at were both 2WD. There was no integrated trailer brake controller in either of the trucks but on the other hand, there was no handle to grab for the driver to enter the passenger seat. Clearly it was going to need polishing before market so the controller could have been one of those things that they'll throw on there. Wouldn't that be nice.
Thanks for being cool, fellas. I know I'm an outsider here but after seeing all the cool stuff I knew that you guys would love to hear as much as you possibly could about what's around the corner. All in all I was quite impressed. I believe you guys will be as well.

Yeah...I hear ya. I really can't put a finger on it myself. This is about the third one that I've been to but to see something in person that even MotorTrend only has heavily camouflaged spy shots of was very exciting to me. Since I couldn't do photos, I tried to paint a picture but sometimes it's difficult. No problem for the info. I know that if someone had some dirt on a never before seen Titan (or any other truck for that matter) I'd be all ears....or....eyes, I should say.

Would anyone know why I'm not able to post attachments? I was just going to post a picture of my truck and host it from this thread as a sig. Is there a post minimum for attachments?

metallicat, thanks again for all the info. Is there anybody from your focus group that you knew? If so maybe they noticed how many gear slots by the shift ****? I know, I'm grasping at thin air.... I'm just excited to see what Ford has up it's sleeves for the 09's. Let us know if there are any other tidbits of information you remember as the day goes by.

Without question, I will. There was no one in there that I knew. As odd as this may sound there was another Titan owner that I know that I often see at meets in Houston. We were talking and it was discovered by onlookers that we knew each other to some degree. She was kicked out of the focus group (you read that right) but was still given her compensation check before being asked to leave. My freakin' jaw hit the floor but hey...it's their money and I suppose they can spend it however they see fit. If they take it this seriously who am I to argue.

I know as a titan owner you didnt really stand to benefit much from coming on here and giving us all this info, so I really apprechiate your time in doing so. Ford has been pretty hush hush and we are eagerly waiting on every piece of info we can get our hands on. Thanks for the info and continued Q & A session.

By 09 everyone will have min 5 speed, and Toyota/Gm 6 speed. Do ya think we'll still have a 4 speed? Then again when I look at the current engine offerings, you may have a point!

Your right confirmation would be nice...

I thought the new expeditions already had the 6 speed, so I see little reason it wouldnt find its way into the f-150

So why then not put 6 speedin 07 or 08 F-150? Common sense ain't so common. (I'm referring to Ford here)

That is a queston I have no answer to. It must be a reliability issue because on paper it looks like a no brainer. It would be faster, pull better and get better mpg

I really appreciate the acknowledgment. I've actually owned nothing but Fords prior to this and have always liked the F150. Even owned one as a matter of fact. Now...since I've seen many a thread go south based on the Titan/Ford clash I'll just say that I'll never get Ford from my blood. Nor do I wish to. Besides, I don't want to be the guy that you all are throwing whipped cream pies at.
I asked earlier but no one commented, I'd like to put a picture of my truck up in my sig but my account says that I can't attach things. What's going on with that?
