Sticking as in sort of grinds or rubs against something when you pull down on the shifter, or locks when you try and shift it?

I spilled a little Coke in my old truck. It would stick the first time I shifted after not shifting it for a while... like when I shifted out of park the first time each day. That lasted for a few weeks and it eventually just went back to normal.

Meaning that it it hard to switch from gears. Like going from drive to park! What would be the best way to clean it??

i'm guessing you have the center console....fx4, so i will say that when you open the console you can pull up on where the console 'latches' and take off the cup holder plastic. when you do this you can see the little black 'treadmill' that goes around the front and back of the shifter. i wish i had a pic to describe this, but it looks like a conveyer belt, and it moves with the shifter when you shift. anyway, you have full access to it with the cupholder plastic off. then you can see if anything (wires, plastic) is in the way, or if it has coke on it, you can fully clean it. hope that helps.
