caliper paint

I am thinking about painting my calipers, but first wanted to hear from some who have done this. First question: does this look crappy when done yourself. Second question: how well does the paint hold up/last. Anyone who has painted their calipers, please offer some insight.

Thanks,
Robert Studebaker

Personally...I think self-painted calipers look cheap and crappy. But then again, I have only seen them on ricey looking Honda Civics.

i painted mine the other day when i replaced the rear brakes. they were pretty rusty and looked like heck so i thought id give it a go. i used a can of high temperature caliper paint i got at advance auto, cost 6 bucks. paint dried quick and in my opinion did not look cheap. looks better than the rust i assure you that. only been on about a week now. thats my two cents

The only time i would want them to be colored is if they were the actual Brembo brakes kit.

Well, i actually meant any big brake kit looks good in color, but i was just stating Brembos as an example. It shows off how the car was "upgraded", but when you paint calipers you dont really "upgrade" anything.

Thump, i think ive seen a pic of your Stang and man it's pretty sweet !
