tranny temp with efans
i have my efan on again. i have been noticing that my tranny temp seems to rise a little quuicker now. just was wondering what your tranny temps were running after installing efans. with the stocker she was staying around 180 and after the efans have been on she is getting in the 210 area.
210* is a little high for just driving around and not towing anything. With temps in the high 80s my tranny temp is 150*-160* just driving about town. What temp did you set your fans to come on at? My normal coolant temp is 194*-196* with the stock mechanical fan.

That doesn't seem right. My transmission temperatures stay around 168-178 on a hot hot Florida day and I'm on 37s.

Trans Temp
The deal is the efans dont come on till the engine is getting hotter than optimum operating temperature which is a little past 200. The regular clutch fan is spinning right away on start up but the efans are not. You might need a trans cooler or fan to combat the problem. What temp are your fans set to come on at. That is probably why the trans temp is up.
That temp seems way high. The only time that I have seen 180+ was with 7K on the hitch, at 95+ temps pulling a grade getting on the interstate. Once I was at highway speed the temps dropped right back to 160-170. In normal driving without a trailer I have never seen 165.

Anything over 200 degres is considered 'well done'
Cheers.
BTW - IMHO, if you aren't measuring it at it's hottest point, it ain't worth measuring at all.
Quiz - the hottest point would be ________________ ?
