Aftermarket or stock wheels....?

I need tires on my facoty 18's.. I thought bout selling them for a few hundred and maybe getting a nice set of 17's.. Or maybe getting the 18" FX2 wheels..

I had polished wheels on a GMC I had, bu they were a pain in the as to keep shiny.. What finish type is easy to keep clean and looking good? I like how the factory wheels clean p and easy and brake dust removed wont dull the finish..

What do you all suggest, FX2's with a nice set of AT tires. Or an aftermarket 17 with a slightly larger tire.. I plan on using the wheels all year round. Sun and rain. Snow and mud...

If you plan on using them all year round, then I would say go with either factory wheels (your 18's or the FX2's) or take a look at the American Racing wheels that are teflon coated. Here is a link to AR's site http://www.americanracing.com/wheels...sp?section=ORT.

Thanks for the honest answers.. I think I am going to get the FX2's and put some Cooper AT tires on it. Wish someone made a 285/75/18'ish size. I dont want the width of a 305. At a good price anyways..

Does 125 for a 265/70/18 Cooper ATR sound like a good price??

OEM wheels are ok for me

In my opinion, aftermarket wheels don't add to much benefit or performance to a truck, I think if the $$ are limited, spend the money in a good quality tires (No Cooper tires) and shocks. You can find here with the members good deals on almost new wheels and tires combo at 1/2 the price of new ones and with some patience and good luck a local deal because the shipping is expensive in these combos.

I get @ $850 a FX4 wheels and 285/65/18 BFG AT KO. (thanks Dean!) I hoope to change my OEM shooks for Blinstein soon. Beter invested money tah aftermarket tires IMHO

That's about the going price!! Give or take a few dollars!

Have you looked at the Kumho Brand? I had the Cooper AT's on mine for a while and was very pleased with them, Have a buddy who has the Kumho AT'S and they are a bit less $$$ but seem to be holding up extremely well for his style of driving!
Aftermarket rims..... That's just a personal pref. If you have the money to play in that department then go for it! American Racing Rims are pretty SOLID!

The FX2 rims are pretty nice but it wasn't the look I was going for, I still have them sitting in my shed because I can't find anyone that wants them with the stock tires still on them, they only have like 200 miles on them.

Here are some pictures of them a couple days after I got the truck:

I dont like Kumho tires. I had them on my Mazda Protege and after a year and a half, the rubber became hard and stiff. The rubber was more like plastic that rubber...

I have had Cooper on many cars in the pat. I feel they were much beter built when they were 100% American made. Now they are made overseas.

I HATE the BF tires that came on the 18" 4x4. They were great on the street, but could not hold a straght line in the snow.

The Goodyears were great, until they had about 1/2 the tread gone. Then all the groves wore off and they were just solid chuncks of rubber. All the Goodyears I have ever owner were AWSOME when new, but wore out fast, even with a lot of tread left.

And I cant believe th cost of tires any more. I miss the days of 15" wheels. Good tires like the BF AT's were still affordable.
