Dinging when key is in accessory mode?

Is there any way to get rid of the dinging when the key is in accessory mode? I like to listen to the radio a lot when the truck is not running and in order for me to do that right now without the dinging noise is to turn the key forward causing electricity to flow through my altenator. This will eventually cause my altenator to fail, is there any way to make the dinging go away, maybe a fuse or a relay?

It's really easy...

1. Open your driver's side door.
2. Get a philips head screw driver.
3. Stick the screw driver in the door latch and push it (push it to the left) as if the latch was being closed. (Like when you shut the door).
4. Enjoy your music.

One thing though... to undo it, you have to pull on the door handle and then push it back to the right to "open" the door.

Mind you... you can also do this to the passenger side door too... it's keeps the cab lights from staying on.

Basically you are fooling the truck thinking the doors are closed.

I use my truck as a daily work jukebox... load up a CD full of MP3's and it will play for hours... not to mention the fact that I've got the remote control...

Next thing I'll need to get is a widescreen plasma in dash...

Thats a great idea but I'm looking for something a little less "rigged". Any other ideas?

I don't know if you've ever taken apart your door yet... but all it is a switch for that door mechanism. You could get a switch and run some wire and place it on your dash. That seems kind of "rigged" too... but it will work.

Option 2 would be to cut the ACC line going to the radio, and then add a switch to the power input of the radio. This way you can play the radio without keys too. But don't forget to turn it off, or else you might run up a dead battery. Assuming you remember, it is a little less "rigged"...

Option 3 would be to cut into the ACC line and add a switch along with a 12v positive line off the power going to the radio. This would be the less "rigged" option too...

Anyway you look at it, you are "rigging" the radio to stay on... Nothing towards you man... just a pun.

yah there was a guy that posted a while back, you just ground out the signal wire for the doors, and you can do that with one switch for the whole vehicle.. Im pretty sure its gound.

If you run a dedicated power source to the radio, only run the the acc in, so you dont have to run full voltage through the wire, but also put a very strong, or two strong diodes in on the original acc side, so power doesnt back feed, and power the whole truck.

Thanks guys...
I was thinking maybe whatever makes the dinging noise maybe a small speaker or something I could just unhook the wires going to it. I don't like it dinging ever so I am not worried about it only dinging for one thing.

yah you could disconnect the dinger, but its probably burried. The problem with grounding out the door circuits, is you could accidently arm the alarm, with the switch "on" and then someone could break into your truck, open the door, and no alarm goes off....

I can find the diagram for you for the dinger if you want, Best, hit me up on aim if you have it

I asume your talking about the factory alarm?

If so there is not factory alarm....at least not on the 04+ models. Dont believe me??? Get out of your truck with the windows down...arm your "alarm" with your remote...stick your arm in and open the door from the inside...nothing will happen (except the door will open.) The little flashing light on the dash doesnt mean a thing.

Mine has a cheap dealer installed alarm (tied into my factory remote)

But i would assume with the audio stuff BestNTX has in his truck, that he would have an aftermarket alarm

I was detailing my truck today and figured that I would try the door latch move to the left, to stop my dinging on acc. It did not work! Any reasoning or suggestions on why it didn't work?

Its a 2005 xlt built 12/04 from norfolk factory if it matters

You probably clicked it to the first notch only, you have to click it 2 times to fully "close" the latch and trip the switch. I do this all the time, it takes like 2 seconds to flip it closed and no more dinger. When releasing it, I have to pull the door handle a few times to get it to pop all the way open.

When I first did it to this truck, I thought I did it wrong... but I quickly learned that it's 2 clicks and ding.ding.ding is gone...
