Plowing

I have seen a few guys with plows on their F150's. Ford suggests that you only plow with the F150 w/heavy payload package, but for just 2-3 driveways you should be fine as long as you get a lightweight plow (Snoway, Western Suburbanite, Fisher Homesteader, ect) If you are thing/wanting to do more than just a couple of driveways I would strongly suggest getting a F250/350.
I know for sure that there is one member that has a plow on his F150 with the standard payload package. I can't think of his screen name, but I can picture the truck it is a black ext. cab, 6.5' box and is running a Snoway plow.

There are also a couple more in his gallery https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?num=11971

A city near mine has 4 05 F-150 XL shortbeds with meyer plows they use to do around city buildings and old people's driveways. You know how city workers treat trucks so if the city felt they were good enough to plow with, so do I.
Actually, I am looking for a plow for mine for this winter, I think I like the Boss sport plows.

Last year my boss was looking for a plow/another work truck for the company, he ended up findind a 89 Chevy 3/4ton, 4X4, 350/turbo400, with a rust free body and 3 year old 8' Curtis plow-- he ended up paying $3000 for it. And to be honest besides the 3 times that he got it stuck in our blizzard last year (over 30" of snow) the truck has been flawless.
There are good used plow trucks out there, you just have to take your time looking for them.

Speaking from years of plowing experience, here's my thoughts. You can physically hang a plow on an F-150 - as you've seen. The question is, would you want to. Even the 7700 package trucks are marginal for anything other than driveways. You're going to go through front end parts much faster, not to mention brakes, U-joints and transmissions. Then there's the inevitable running into stuff and the body damage. Your call. I wouldn't plow with anything less than an F-350.

Your (very nice looking) truck thanks you. Trust me, I see what we break on our F-350's and I'd hate to think what one could do to a half ton truck. Yes, we're plowing shopping centers, churches and apartment complexes and use the trucks for the tighter stuff, but they take a beating - even with good maintenance.

hey i plow with my truck, and have been for the past 2 years and havent had a problem, i got a boss 7'6'' standard duty weighs roughly 700-750 lbs so i ended up getting the heavy duty springs for the front of the truck (spring code ''ZZ") once i got the new springs installed it plows like a dream, i plow well last year 8 driveways plus mine and haven't had a problem heres some pictures of my truck if your interested in what a real plow looks like http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gall...&albumid=24042

and another thing is we plow only with F150's for parking lots etc... at the road commission and we havent had any problems with them (we have 3 of them been using then since 04) i think the F150 is a good truck to plow with if you dont plow many more driveways then i do, then you might as well get something bigger, but i dont leave my plow on i just use the quick hitch thing and put it on only when i need it...
