Question I hit the curb the other day...

Well i hit the curb the other day and unfortunately i had about 2000lbs of rocks in the back of my truck and today when i was walking past my truck i noticed on the tire where i hit the curb that there was a chunk of rubber missing, its about a dime size and about a 1/4'' deep and now im wondering if i need to get new tires, im thinking about only getting 2 new tires, or should i get 4 tires, i think if i got 4 tires it would be a waste of money because these tires only have about 10,000 miles on them... what do you guys think?

Is the chunk missing in the tread or sidewall area? Are there chords exposed?

Either way, if chords are exposed in the sidewall, whether they're damaged or not, I'd replace the tire ASAP.

Then I wouldn't worry about it, as long as they're not exposed and no chords are damaged by way of a deep cut.

Why would you not just get one new tire if it is messed up?

I believe we determined the tire was not messed up enough to warrant getting a new tire, especially since he'll be getting new tires in the near future anyway.

I see that, but I was wondering why he wanted to get 2 new tires instead of just 1 since they have such low miles on them.
