Yes, it just unscrews out of the base (easy). There are two ways to go here. First, just cut the whip antenna down to your needed size and epoxy the ball back on the end (lots of people have done this). Second, just buy an aftermarket one (which I did). There are lots to choose from with varying lengths, colors, and finishes. Good Luck.
I used a piece of rubber tubing just large enough (ID) to go over the antenna at the base, then used a pair of pliers to turn it out. This allows you to get a better grip without damaging the finish. Another thing I had to do with my aftermarket antenna was place a lock washer (stainless) in between to keep it from backing out while driving. The original whip antenna's threads were fairly tight in the base, and the aftermarket was not as tight (leading to backing out). Good Luck.
