New 2007 stereo worse than 2004?

I just traded my '04 FX4 with a 6 disk, for a new 2007 XLT, single disk. The stereo had much better sound in my 2004? Are they making them cheaper now?

Anyone else notice this?

Sounds like you could be comparing the Audiophile system to your basic CD system in the new 07. My 04 FX4 came with an Audiophile system with the 6 disc. If that was the case with your FX4, sounds like your new XLT came with the basic single disc sound system instead of the more expensive Audiophile 6 disc system. I have not heard the basic system, but my Audiophile system kicks Butt!

as stated above, you dont have the audiophile in the new truck which has the 6 disc with the subwoofer

The 6 disc has higher power output than the single disk.

8, I believe. But, comparatively speaking it's a sizable increase. Obviously, both decks suck, and put out crap, but it's enough to make an audible difference.

Just go to Wal*Mart and get yourself an aftermarket radio... like a Pioneer... sell your Single CD Player on ebay, and get your money back. Ford really rips you on the sound system.

Confirmed. My 2003 LARIAT had better speakers and more amps. My 2007 XLT sucks.

Audiophile wasn't around in 2003, the XLT and the Lariat had the same system, and it was better.

I grew up in Detroit. Trust me. The auto dinosaurs there are near extinction-killed by their own arrogance. I love Karma.

Any factory radio just flat out sucks. . especially any truck. Invest in a new headunit and new door speakers, I'm sure you'll be more than happy.

wow, you people are extremely picky on radios. my only complaint with the factory is that you can't dial in the exact sound level. I hate the "jumps" between the preset sound levels. It's always to loud or not quite loud enough.

I like my radios set to 10 for a volume while I am driving with the A/C on and windows closed. I like my radios set to 20 for a volume while I am driving with the windows down.

It wasn't the audiohpile system on the old one.

This truck is leased so I'd like to keep the head unit. What's a cheap (and reversable) solution? Just add an additional amp?
