2007 with a dead battery.
2007 with a dead battery.
Anyone else have this happen? Truck was 100% fine when I parked it last night. This morning all I could get was couple clicks of the solenoid. (And the gauge needles did a little dance for me when I turned the key off.) The dealer, less than 2 miles away, wanted me to call roadside assistance. Just started it up with a jumper pack and drove it up. Luckily the short drive didn't charge it enough to restart, so they replaced the battery after some high tech battery test.
The last battery I replaced in any vehicle lasted almost seven years, and the one in my last truck was over seven years old when I traded it in. The service writer informed me it was a common occurance, especially in new cars, and have replaced an average of 3 out of 5 batterys in all the '07 Mustangs sold?????? Where's the TSB on this malarky........ yeah, I said malarky.

I call absolute BS on the 3 out 5 BS. He's probably just saying that to make you think it's common.
Although, it is common for batteries to be drained from sitting on the lot too long without being started. It could be that it happened a few times to yours, and it was permanently damaged because of that.

Could be. My Mustang sits every winter for 5 months and has the same battery for the last 6 years. I disconnect it for that time, but still............
I sure hope it's all that was wrong. A co-worker was back 5 times with an '07 equiped like mine for non start-battery issues. Finally replaced the whole fuse box under the dash. I don't want that kinda trouble from mine.

The batteries sit in a warehouse, Than sit in the truck until thier sold, ofton the batery never gets's charged up enough to hold a charge sitting on a lot.
My 04 F-150 had two batteries and two altenators installed in it's short and brief time with me, one problem that never was resloved was the belt tensor never held the fan belt tight and if I left the radio playing for more than a 1/2 hour, the whole electrical system would shut off util the truck was bosted, I ranted abought that over the years.
The oem battery in my F-150 with the tow package was only rated at 550 CCA.

My dad has the original battery in his 2002 F250, 115,000 miles on it too. I replaced mine because it started leaking with only 13,000 miles on it. It just all depends, batteries are iffy. Nothing to worry about.
Johnson Controls builds Ford's Motorcraft, Autozone's, Advance's, Walmart's, and many more. FYI. I get the feeling that making a battery is a crap shoot.

Still running the OEM battery in my F150 since it went into service Oct. 2003. With nearly 56K on the ticker, not even a hint of problems. Kicks over on the first crank every time. How did your alternator check out?
They said the alt. was fine, but I don't know for sure if they actually checked it. I guess I'll let the truck sit for a couple days and see if it starts.
Maybe I got a battery that was made on a Monday.........

When I first bought my 05' SCAB back in Sep of 05', I started having battery/electrical probs with mine around Nov. The dealer said that they couldn't find anything wrong with the battery even though it had the red eye indicator meaning there was a problem with the battery, but they passed it off. Then I deployed for 4 months to the desert and when I returned the battery was dead to the bone. So I took it in and they concured that it was a bad battery. That was in Feb. 06', so they changed the battery and now I am deployed again and my wife has been driving the truck off and on to make sure it didn't just sit. She went out today and the damn battery is dead to the world again...so I know what your going through but I can't get it fixed until I get home in Sept. ....Never fails that --it hits the fan when your gone.
I've had a few new Motorcraft batteries work OK for a month or so and then they'd die and wouldn't take a charge. I'd take them back to the dealer and they couldn't get them to charge (2 bad cells). The old guy in the service department would turn the battery charger to recondition mode (pulse mode)and a few minutes later the batteries would charge. He said they normally deep charge the new batteries before selling them (or delivering a vehicle to the customer). If they don't, it's common for a few cells to reverse polarity which essentially kills the battery. We have the same problem with rechargeable hand held radio batteries at work. We have to fully charge them before use or they'll die and won't hold a charge.
Do you have a radar detector
that you leave on?
My truck did exactly what yours is doing- if I didn't run it every day, the battery would die. After testing I found that it was my little radar detector killing it. I never would'a believed it, but it's true.
Now, I have a new detector that auto-shuts off after 3 hours of inactivity.
Try making sure your detector, phone charger, etc. are all turned off/unplugged before you lock the truck up for the night, see if that does the trick.

MOTORCRAFT batteries are crap my 05 Fx4's battery took a crap and I just went ahead paid $80 for an MTP65 from Interstate enough said. My old 2003 Mustang GT that I bought brand spanking new had the original battery when I traded it in was driven only 3 months out of the year and I never disconnected the battery during the winter sheer luck I think damn car had 12,300 miles talk about a beater lol 12k miles and already had about 8 oil changes lol.
My Ford Escape's factory battery shot it's wad 6 months after I bought it... so they replaced it with another Ford battery and that fixed it for about a year... then that shot it's wad... and I finally got soooooo disgusted with the whole thing with Ford and batteries... I decided to go to my local AdvanceAuto Parts store and picked up a cheap battery. I did, and I had 2 years of trouble free problems with it. Which also brings me to another point. I bought an Interstate battery for my Dakota down in Florida, for about $40... it was the cheapest battery I could find. I put that in, and it has worked EXCELLENT for the past 5 years.... never a problem starting it.
