If you want 300 rwhp N/A you will need
1. cold air intake like an air force one, a JLT or an airiad, ditch the K&N drop in
2. a good cat back exhaust like magnaflow or roush
3. e-fans
4. underdrive pullies
5. long tube headers
6. new coil packs or at least connectors from GMS
7. a really good tune
8. electric water pump
All of this will get you real close maybe over the top, maybe not. Everything mentioned above is all there is for bolt-ons. anything beyond that, and you will be going into the motor.
P.S. there is an aftermarket throttle body, but it is the same size as stock, so its kinda pointless.

1. cold air intake
2. cat back exhaust (magnaflow is good)
3. Long tube headers
4. Pullies
5. Possible gearing to help with transfer of power better....
6. E-Fans
7. Larger Throttle body
8. A good Dyno Tune
thats all i can think of as of now....

I think a elcetric water pump and the GMS COP's would get you there.

In the latest issue of MM&FF there is an article on installing cams on a 3v 4.6 in an 05-up stang with the heads still on the block and still in the car. Since the 5.4 3v has the same heads I would imagine that they could be installed the same way on our trucks. A set of cams w/ springs and retainers will run about a grand give or take, and could be considered a bolt-on if you don't have to pull the heads. Cams combined with all the other bolt-ons will give you 300+ at the wheels.

Doing this and mixing up a tank of 100 octane for a 100 octane tune only will put you over the top.
Electric Water pump for sure.

I've seen them for $250 some places. Meziere make em. Same ones that fit 4.6 mustangs fit the 5.4 block.
My two cents though. Don't try it. Once you do it you will have invested money in intakes and tunes and Underdrive pullies just to take them off and try to re-sell them when you want to add a supercharger.
If you make 300RWHP.. you'll just want more. I promise.

What is everyones fascination with aftermarket COP's??? It has been proven a million times that they dont do anything and just cause problems. There are Lightning guys with 600+ hp using the stockers with no problem. There are also 3V Mustang guys which use the same exact COP's with numbers higher than those. Just trying to save any of you guys some money. If you are going to spend all that money on bolt ons to achieve 300rwhp why not spend a little more for a supercharger and 400rwhp?
300 rwhp with the stock intake is going to be hard.
you'll need everything there is. including electric water pump, 1 3/4" headers not 1 5/8", pull the motor and add a windage tray. and you should get close. i have a cobra windage tray on hand, but the idea of pulling the motor for that one thing is not real appealing.

adding stage 1 CompCams won't require changing spring, and may get you there. the intake may also stop you there. i do feel that you will add some torque with the cams. how much? who knows.
Josiah, have you considered the stage 1's? it's really an easy swap. no cover removal .get this months MMFF and get the special tool.

I don't know if I would attempt a cam swap, even if you don't have to remove the timeing chain cover. I haven't ever changed cams on anything... much less a brand new truck.
I'd pay to have someone else do it for the piece of mind.

They make a pump for the 3 valve 5.4s??? Or will the same pump for the old 2v's work? One of these might have to go on my "someday" list
