About to take the 4.10 plunge!

Been reading a lot about the rear-ends on these F150's. I finally have the funds together to do a gear swap within the next week. Be the last mod for a while or atleast till after the Baby's born.

Wanted to post it under the 2004 + Forum so that I can hear just from you guys with the new style trucks.

I'll be going from the stock 3.55's open, to a set of 4.10's. My questions are!

Should I go ahead and bite the bullet and get a LS unit installed? Will it make that much of a difference compared to a 4.10 open? Which one shold last longer, I have heard some guys complain about the LS and having to add some sort of additional lubricant (unsure of what it's called) to make the LS function correctly. Im thinking 100,000mile down the road.... Which one should hold up with out worry.
Thanks in Advance!
Tom

Friction modifer. Only complaint about it is that it smells like death... and it soaks into your hands.. so where 3 pair of rubber gloves. LOL

Absolutely positively get the limited slip differential. There's no way I would want a truck without it...

I agree, LS for sure. I went from factory 3.55LS to 4.1 Ford Racing LS and love it. It's great!
