I have a 2005 F150 FX4 SuperCrew without the trailer package, what gears do i have?

 

what "axle code" is on your door jam sticker?

 

My guess would be 3.73

 

Probably 3.73. Yesterday when I was changing my oil I noticed a sticker on the front differential that said what gears were in it, might want to look at that.

Big white sticker with black letters/numbers. Will either say "3.73" or 3.55"

Without the tow package, you may very well have 355's.
Check the axle code on the sticker inside the drivers door.

19 — 3.55 non-limited slip — F-150
25 — 4.10 non-limited slip — F-150
26 — 3.73 non-limited slip — F-150/Mark LT
27 — 3.31 non-limited slip — F-150
B5 — 4.10 limited slip — F-150
B6 — 3.73 limited slip — F-150/Mark LT
H9 — 3.55 limited slip — F-150

 

I thought the FX4 package had 3.73 LS standard? 50/50/90, but I'd say you have 3.73 just because it's a FX4. otherwise, you'd have 3.55

 

I'm pretty sure some FX4's came with 355's, in 2004 anyway. If you wanted the 373's as a given, you need to get an XLT

BTW, the axle code on my door sticker is B6, which indicates 373 gears and Limited Slip. My truck has the 5.4 and tow package. I believe the 373 gears also came automatic with the tow package but it had to be the 5.4 as opposed to the 4.6. Even if you have the tow package with the 4.6, some people still have 355's in their trucks.

 

I've got a 4 x 2 but it's got the trailer tow package and 3.55's.

When I bought my '04 Lariat I was also oking at an '04 FX4 ext cab with the 5.5 bed and sure enough, it had 3.55's.

That was one reason I didn't get it; heck I wasn't thrilled with having to go for the 3.73's in my Lariat. I wish it had 4.10 like my Ranger had.

trailer tow package is just tranny cooler, and a C3 hitch right?

 

I have, tranny cooler, 373's with LSD, 5.4 engine and a class V hitch with both types of plugs for trailer lights. There is also supposed to be a harness under the dash all ready to accept a brake box.
