Metal Upper Bumper

Where do I get one of these (boxed in red) in metal? I just hate the plastic.... I'm either looking for REAL chrome/stainless or black. It has to be metal.

I guess you could but you'd need to be pretty handy in metal working?

All of the trucks came with that part in flat black (XL) or paint to match. The only chrome part is the lower bumper.

I know it comes either painted or black from Ford. I want something aftermarket... something that also provides real protection. I bought a truck, I expect no plastic on the front end.... except for the grill... but even then I would buy a billet grill. So essentially there would be minor to no plastic.

I live in an area heavily populated with deer and other wildlife, and I had my '99 F-150, and I hit a deer doing 30 mph and it didn't do anything. I had a Ford Escape and I hit a deer and it totally messed up the plastic (at 20 mph), and it was never able to be fixed. I want my '07 to be just as strong.

These days everything's made out of plastic... it's sooo sad.

haha, yeah...

I even notice on my Dakota, the metal bumper sticks out more than the plastic junk. Seems as if the metal bumper will do all the "bumping and protection" work. That was the way it was on my '99 F150.

On the '07, the plastic and the metal bumper are "flush" and even. Like there is no "bumper" sort of speak. Basically like the whole front end is giant bumper.

It's been driving me crazy ever since I bought the truck.

Actually one of the first things I told myself was that black piece of plastic was ending up in my el garbago.

EDIT:
I found myself this... but it is plastic... so if they make this in plastic, they sure in the heck can make it in metal...

Your best bet is going to be to get a replacement bumper such as a ranch hand or a road armor. Thats the only way your gonna get all metal up front.

I still can't figure it out why... I mean some people buy their trucks to do off roading and other stuff... if I had a painted plastic bumper I'd sure be wary of knicks and scratches from the trails. It's much easier to damage painted plastic than it is metal, because once there is a knick, then it sometimes makes the paint flake in that area.

Luckily I've got black... and if it got damaged who cares, I can pick a chrome one up for 100 bucks. But it's crazy.

So, it looks like I'm going to go after a road armor or a ranch hand... Not something I really wanted to do because I kind of like the way it is set up... but that plastic piece just deserves to be in my trash bin... in my opinion.

You're just trying to stir the pot w/ that Toyota comment,

(But I agree w/ what you said )

They have it on ebay in chrome. Upper bumper pad is what it's listed under around 100 bucks
