Westin step bars
Westin step bars
Ahoy. I'm getting some Westin step bars for my f150 and I can get a much better deal online than I can at the local shops...I'm talking about 1/2 the price. My question is, is there a separate kit to buy that is needed to attach the bars to your truck, i.e. a mounting kit of some sort, or do the bars themself come with everything needed for installation.
Just wondering, because there has to be something missing from the online kits v. the others because the difference in price is too wide for me to believe.

I bought wheel to wheel bars off and ebay dealer for about $425 and the local shops wanted anywhere from $600 to $700 for the same thing. I think that if it is new in the box and is vehicle specific it should come with everything that is needed. You can always call the place to make sure though.
I bought a set of Stainless Steel Westins for my '97 SCab. They came with everything you need to install them. In this case, no drill/no tap. You insert plates into existing holes in the frame and bolt the bars into the plates. Install took 30 minutes.
Just as a side note, the nerf bars are 8 years old now and still no rust.

RCS Off Road has the SuperCrew Westin Wheel to Wheel black stainless nerf bars for $363 delivered. It's the best price I found and they had them to my door in 2 days. Install was pretty easy, but the W2W nerf bars do require minor drilling. The standard platimum nerf bars do not require any drilling.

Get the Nasta Stainless Steel step rails at autoanything.com. They are all stainless steel even down to the mounting brackets and screws and are cheaper than the Westins. I'm very pleased with mine and they were easy to install.
