Stock CD players, single to 6disk, what will work?

I was going to post this in the "headunits" forum, but I figured I might get more help here. I currently have the single disk, non MP3 CD player in my truck. I want to get a 6 disk, MP3 model. I know that the 6 disk units from the Audiophile systems will work but won't sound as good as the non Audiophile unit, and that some Ford vehicles radios won't swap into our trucks and keep all the functions since appairantly the harnesses are alittle different.

So out of which vehicles will the 6 disk players work in my truck?

Any help would be great!!
TIA, Paul

I think the Mustang and F-150 units are the same, maybe a couple of others....BTW, I have 2 of them! $150, and I'll ship it to you.

I'm curious to know this as well, since I would like to have 6 disc in the dash so I can pull out my aftermarket changer and free up some storage space.

Easy as can be if using Ford parts. I swapped an 04 1 CD system without MP3 for an 05 6 disk changer with MP3 in about 15 minutes and I am no techie!

IMO the shaker 500 sounds as good as the F150 audiophile, so if you can get that go for it as well, the only drawback is the dimmer function is a seperate plug so the unit will always be *full bright*.

So it is a true "plug & play" deal then? I read here awhile back about needing a software upgrade from the dealer to make the 6 disc work properly.

The Nav unit needs a programmed update, but the regular units are just plug and play! It's easy.

I started with a single CD and Cassette, then bought a 6 disc changer, then upgraded to the Shaker 1000...(although I really don't think it's any better than the other without the sub). I've also got one from my 06 Mustang. So I have a few spares!

What about if you have a 6 disc MP3 can you add the sirus sat radio to it ? My truck didnt come with sirus but i would love to add it. I was wondering if i got ahold of the factory sirus part if i could just plug it in? Or should i just buy an aftermarket radio with sirus cause i heard they dont sound that good when you add sirus on. Any imput or suggestions?
